Sometimes the simplest way is the best way. With the appropriate jumper, you can connect your HT to your Elk Antenna, and take strain off of the little SMA connector on your radio. With the Comet HS-05 and Comet HS-10 jumpers, making the connection is pretty darn simple. You will need to connect the HS-10 to a piece of coax to attach to your Elk Antenna. You can also use a small PL-259/PL-259 adapter to connect the HS-10 directly to your antenna.
The Comet connectors feature a SO-239 on one end and a SMA-male on the other. Many brands of HT will find this SMA connector just perfect (some i.e., Motorola, Wouxon may require a SMA barrel connector). The jumpers feature RG-188 which is only 1/8″ thick and puts very little stress on your radio’s SMA connector. You add a short (or long) run of coax of your choice between the jumper and the antenna. The solution is really simple. This is great for fox hunting, satellite work, DXing, or hill topping. However you operate, this will help. Easily fits into an Elk Bag to make a great addition to your Go Kit!
